Love in Their Eyes
I have been spending quite a bit of time scrolling on my Facebook feed in recent days, and I am saddened, but at the same time, not surprised by, what I see and read there about recent events concerning whose lives matter most. So many people are talking, even shouting, but not very many are listening. I am reminded of that song from 1969 by Harry Nilsson…”everybody’s talking at me, I don’t hear a word they’re saying…” I think that we would all agree that both “sides” have legitimate concerns and both “sides” have quite a bit of work to do to get to the place where we can finally begin to resolve the challenges that have brought us to this place.
Today, as I spent quiet time with my dogs, I looked into their eyes and wondered… how would these challenges we are facing be resolved if they were “in charge”?… with unconditional love… with the ability to love another more than they love themselves… with a heart that stays in the present moment and easily forgives and quickly forgets… listening with their hearts and waiting with excited expectation for what is to come….
Food for thought…Maybe today will be the day we all start listening more and talking less…
